Türkiye’s First Adult Ballet Performance Met with the Audience
Yetişkin Bale Dans ve Spor Kulübü, which has brought many adults with no ballet background together with ballet and dance since 2011, broke new ground this year in Türkiye. 60 women, all of whom are adult ballet students, met their audience on the stage.
The main sponsor of the show called “Buluşma” held at the Süleyman Seba Fulya Art Cultural Center on May 26 was Elidor, who has been supporting young women to walk their own path since 2021. Meeting with more than 650 spectators consisting of 17 different choreographies, “Buluşma” received a standing ovation for minutes.
Yetişkin Bale Dans ve Spor Kulübü founder Ekin Akbaş Arpacı before the show “This show, which will be presented to our audience by women from different ages, physical characteristics and professions, who do not have a ballet or dance background in Turkey, excites me and our institution very much. I applaud each and every one of them in advance and thank them very much. I wish you to accompany with your applause to the intense and unique process in which our students put their hearts and minds together with their discipline, courage and bodies.” she expressed his feelings.
Ekin Akbaş Arpacı said after the performance, “I am proud of both my students and my team. They showed the courage to take the first step on stage and captivated everyone. I watched 60 strong, confident and passionate women on stage today and they were priceless. As an institution, we continue on the road with a huge “Good luck”. From light to costume, we were together with many professionals in the ballet world during this process. Special thanks to our audience, it was a great honor for me to get a standing ovation for my students and my team for minutes!” she shared her feelings.
Yetişkin Bale Dans ve Spor Kulübü continues to meet the dreams of adults with the motto that everyone can do ballet at any age. At Karaköy and Caddebostan studios, there are ballet classes for adults at different levels, intermediate and advanced. It is ensured that the person works in the appropriate class according to his/her development. With the awareness that every body is different, physiotherapy and ergotherapy were included in the program, and the program was created by conducting research on health. In short, its doors are open to anyone who wants to do ballet and dance.
Ekin Akbaş Arpacı, who brought the adult ballet to Turkey and put on the adult ballet performance for the first time, continues to work with her team to realize new firsts and dreams.
